Hasn't happened to me.  Could you try rebuilding both libbfd and ld from
clean?

Also ... make sure you don't have a /usr/lib/libbfd.a or /usr/lib/libbfd.so
(libbfd.so.MAJOR and libbfd.so.MINOR are fine).
