  I have seen such messages on my firewall machine. It turned out
to be a typical user error -- I do use ipf, and had a default of
block all... so it blocked all, including stuff on the loopback
interface. A "pass in quick all on lo0, pass out quick all on lo0"
at the very beginning of the ipf rules cured that. Perhaps you
are having a similar problem?
