     This is fairly common on SysV based machines.  And, it is another
of the things that I hate about SysV.  /etc/default is just another
place that you have to go hunting for configuration files.  I really
like the fact that on NetBSD, almost all of the configuration files
are located in /etc (with just a handful of files that aren't
configuration files).
