As I noted in PR 7089, this still leaves make release/snapshot broken
wrt. domestic binaries going into the 'exportable' tarballs. I've put
together a set of patches which addresses this breakage while maintaining
the least amount of extra building/installing as possible. In addition,
these patches add a number of features to the build process, such as
including X in the snapshot and including tarballs of the source used
to build the snapshot (something which has plagued snapshot builders
numerous times, judging from posts on the various port- lists), all in
one step.

The files are available from the following URLs:

ftp://ftp.wheaton.edu/pub/jdarrow/buildmods.files
	- a list of files added or changed by these modifications

ftp://ftp.wheaton.edu/pub/jdarrow/buildmods.diffs
	- a diff (against current-19990311) of the changed files

ftp://ftp.wheaton.edu/pub/jdarrow/buildmods.diffs+new
	- a diff which also includes the new files (this file is >1MB)

ftp://ftp.wheaton.edu/pub/jdarrow/buildmods.tgz
	- a tarball of the files added or changed by these modifications

Or you can just grap a tarball of all of the above from:
ftp://ftp.wheaton.edu/pub/jdarrow/buildmods-19990311.tgz

I would appreciate comments anybody has on these modifications, as I'd
like to see them (or something similar) go into current before the 1.4 branch.
