This is not correct.  If your BIOS supports int13-extensions, and you are
using -current "fdisk -i" to initialize the MBR code, it will boot from
partitions beyond the 8G limit.  The code from M$ will only boot partitions
beyond the limit if they are special type partitions (all supported types
are FAT in some form).
