There's so much potential information you might want to supply that I
don't think it makes sense.

Those make sense for _some_ kinds of disk filesystems, but make little
sense for loading over the net, etc.

I don't think you can solve the problem, to be honest.  (of course, i
think, in the long run, the kernel should know about 'public'
symbols,' export them itself, etc.)
