I'm trying to build a current system on my alpha, from sources supped today.

When I do a make build:
all ===> libntp
building shared ntp library (version 0.0)
ld -x -shared -soname libntp.so.0 -o
/usr/src/current/src/domestic/lib/libntp/../../../lib/libntp/libntp.so.0.0 
/usr/lib/crtbeginS.o  --whole-archive libntp_pic.a --no-whole-archive  
/usr/lib/crtendS.o
ld: cannot open libntp_pic.a: No such file or directory
*** Error code 1

But I can go in there and do a make install and it works just fine.  What is
going on here?
