Here's a novel idea: rather than disussing it here, why doesn't someone
(who can speak for TNF) actually bring up the issue with Sendmail, Inc.?
Tell them that there license is a problem for us, tell them how it can
be minimally fixed (I wish it was still BSD-license too, but that's not
going to happen.  Ask them for a GPL-like time limit on source
distribution, since that seems to be the issue), and tell them that
otherwise, NetBSD is not going to ship the Sendmail, Inc. version,
which would be bad for both them and us.
