hi,

just found another modification I've done to get kde running: there
are some calls to programs in /usr/bin/X11 which are hardcoded in kdm
(at least). from the code it looks like there should be a possibility
to redefine these variables during configuration, but this isn't done.
failing to put the link from wherever your X binaries are to
/usr/bin/X11 gives errors like "xrdb: not found" and some such. the
clean solution would be to define the "resources" used by kdm right
before compiling. the resorces are found in .../kdebase/kde/resource.c

i came across this installing kde on a ultra-1 (running slowlaris).
