The quoted message had the following date line:

	Date: Thu, 04 Dec 1997 15:09:31 -0500

1.3 didn't get out until the very end of December 1998.  1.2.1
was indeed the "current" release at the time.

And they may have watchdog timers, or a yearly cron job to do a
"shutdown -r now" :-).
