Well, I'm trying xcdplayer (1.3/i386) and it doesn't set sound
volume as I wish. It seems like it works in some sub-range of
possible volume. Well, audioctl -w play.gain=XX does the trick,
but it's not what I want just now.

It seems as if CDIOCSETVOL doesn't set directly audio volume, but
something else, which is only indirectly connected to audio control.

I really don't understand, why it's not consistent, why setting
volume through two interfaces has two different results (it should
not be, should it ?).

One in a million, perhaps.
