Is there any better way how to find out if dynamic linking (and
shared libs) can be used than to check $(PLIST_SRC) for PLIST-md.shared ?
If not, something should be added maybe (say, variable USE_SHARED
set to yes|no or 1|0 ?).

At least one package (tk80) builds shared libs by default - does it work
on powerpc for example ?
