Basically, when I run out of swap my i386 computer freezes - no panic,
it just stops. What if anything can I do about it?!

NetBSD 1.3 (QUARTZ) #34: Mon Jan 5 13:36:52 GMT 1998
cputime unlimited
filesize unlimited
datasize 1048576 kbytes
stacksize 32768 kbytes
coredumpsize unlimited
memoryuse 28628 kbytes
memorylocked 28628 kbytes
maxproc 532
openfiles 1772
# swapctl -lk
Device 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Priority
/dev/sd0b 102400 4 102396 0% 0

ie., yesterday's userland and kernel, 32Mb memory 100Mb swap. I then
run X, top, and ImageMagick's animate *.tga on 50 1Mb stills of
cordierite. top shows swap disappearing to 12k then all freezes - no
keyboard input, time for the reset button...

Any thoughts / musings appreciated,

Patrick
