As of this morning (Tuesday) using the second latest tarballs, 19971106, I
can run at 19200, but 38400 is pretty much unusable. ftp can't deal with
the stalled condition that keeps comming up. I essentially can't transfer
anything larger than 100k or so.

19200 is free from problems.
