There is a manpage "console(4)", and a prototype definition
in the GENERIC config file.
In your case, the CONSDEVNAME seems missing - this
has changed since 1.2.
You can set up the bootblocks to use a serial console as well
(see boot_console(8)). In this case, you don't need to change
the kernel config, the bootblocks will pass their setting.
