I tried emacs first.
Emacs coredumps during the build process, where it tries to run "temacs"
in order to generate a fasload version of the default lisp library.  It
looks like emacs is dying (signal 11) in __start before it even calls main,
which is scary; something might be crocked in my build environment.

rc (from plan 9) ftp'd, built, and ran all without a hitch, though.
