After installing a new snapshot of current tonight I noticed a few misfeatures
in the 2.3.1 pppd,

Sep 30 03:02:23 sibbi pppd[220]: pppd 2.3.1 started by root, uid 0
Sep 30 03:02:44 sibbi pppd[220]: Serial connection established.
Sep 30 03:02:45 sibbi pppd[220]: Using interface ppp0
Sep 30 03:02:45 sibbi pppd[220]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/tty01
Sep 30 03:02:45 sibbi routed[134]: Send sendto(ppp0 193.4.192.30.520): Network
is down
Sep 30 03:02:45 sibbi pppd[220]: local IP address 193.4.192.47
Sep 30 03:02:45 sibbi pppd[220]: remote IP address 193.4.192.30

The contents of my /etc/ppp/options.tty01 is as follows:

a connect string which establishes a connection and logs me in, using chat
defaultroute
local
mtu 576
-bsdcomp
deflate 12,12
vj-max-slots 6
crtscts
user sibbi

I added the local after verifying that you do indeed need it there for the
connect
script to work, as discussed in the mailing list earlier, I do however not
want it
to stay there, I need to the CD to work :).

pppd doesn't seem to establish a default route anymore, I have to manually do
a
route add default 193.4.192.30 to get the machine to route packets, it sure
used
to work using older versions of pppd, am I loosing my mind?
