Hi,

I've installed NetBSD 1.2G (970815 i386 snapshot) on a friend's Acer
350-PC laptop yesterday.

1. When APM is in the kernel, I always get the
following errors on the console:

Sep 11 20:29:57 schleppi /netbsd: APM set CPU idle: unknown error code (0x5305)
Sep 11 21:00:04 schleppi /netbsd: APM set CPU busy: unknown error code (0x5306)

Simply starting apmd did *not* fix this. Any clue?

2. Besides that, the machine has a built-in soundcard (works fine under
Win95 using some ESS1680(?) sounddriver, but it's not recognized by the
GENERIC kernel. Here's what dmesg says:

Acer Labs product 0x1511 (host bridge, revision 0x04) at pci0 dev 0 function 0 not configured
Acer Labs product 0x1513 (ISA bridge, revision 0xa4) at pci0 dev 2 function 0 not configured
Chips and Technologies 65545 (VGA display) at pci0 dev 6 function 0 not configured
Acer Labs M4803 (IDE mass storage, revision 0x01) at pci0 dev 8 function 0 not configured

Any chance for any of these to be the

3. The machine has a touchpad as mouse-replacement, the Win* driver says
something about Synaptics(?). Any chance about that?
