1. User starts 'chfn'
2. vi is started
3. user doesn't know how to use vi
4. user manages to suspend and kill -9 vi
5. /etc/ptmp remains and nobody can edit the database unless root removes
   /etc/ptmp

I see this as a problem.  How do you see it? :-)
