Mail transfer problems SOLVED:

I had MTU of 296 bytes on the PPP link on my router machine. When I changed
it to 576, things started working (it seems). I heard that this is the
minimum length specified for IP packets.

The reason I was setting MTU so small was to speed up interactive connections
while there's a file transfer in progress.

Why do we have MTU of 296 bytes for SLIP, then? :-o

Thanks to all who responded.
