I recently bought a Adaptec 1542C (no Floppy) for my small Internet
Router, an i386.  The adapter is jumpered to Port 333 as requested in the
INSTALL and is recognized fine by the kernel on the KADP 1.2
Install-Floppy.

 But when I try to write a disklabel or to access the drive for write, I
get the following error:

 aha0: host_status 14

 After which the kernel from the install-floppy reboots the machine instantly!

 The BIOS version on my Adaptec is 1.01, if that matters.

 Any Idea what the cause for the errors might be?  Another Adaptec works
great - unfortunately it's not mine.
