Some of this stuff might also be addressed by the work that Steve Bellovin
did (if you're not gonna go whole hog with dmr's streams) on "sessions".
It's in a USENIX proceedings from some years ago. If anyone is interested
in pursuing this, let me know, and I'll look up the reference.
