sup isn't a great protocol.  i'm fairly sure that everyone can agree
on that (it *does* have applications and it can be good for those,
however).

but, i don't think that CVSup is a viable solution for netbsd.  it
requires modula3 of some sort, and last time i looked at it, i was
totally shocked by the size of the source tree.  i was rather
interested in CVSup .. and then i dropped it totally because of
this (i did actually unpack and attempt to build it, but, i was
losing _fast_ before i gave up).   freebsd have the luxury of being
able to sanely provide binaries for their users ... we don't have
that luxury.

maybe someone can re-write CVSup in something a little more usable
for the project ?  :-)
