Hmm. What about having a `biggest int' type and printf definition, and
cast anything dubious to that in the printf statement? E.g.,

	printf("offset is %b\n", (biggest int) an_off_t);

(not necessarially in those exact words, of course). Perhaps it should
be unsigned.

(Or am I making no sense here? A day and a half of SCSI hell, punctuated
by only four hours sleep, doesn't leave me in the best of shape. :-))
