Given that the formats have already diverged, I don't see this as
being particularly relevant.  If you're using one of these tools, your
best bet is to have an /emul/foo/var/{run/utmp,log/wtmp} and not have
them muck with the native ones.  (With sufficient hacking, you could
fix this, but I assure you that you don't want to know how.)

Of course there's the issue of prebuilt *native* executables...
