I don't think most NFS implementations ever do this.  I had 100k of
"nfs server squished down; still trying" on my old Ultrix box.

If you have soft mounts it will.

     -s      A soft mount, which implies that file system calls will fail af-
             ter Retry round trip timeout intervals.
