I assume you're using the latest -current version of the driver (1.94)?

Hmm, i have a similar board:

ed1 at isa0 port 0x300-0x31f iomem 0xcc000-0xcffff irq 10
ed1: address 00:00:c0:ad:77:91, type SMC8216/SMC8216C (16-bit) aui

which appears to work great with a completely up-to-date -current
kernel, on my Cx486-33...
