I use SMC EtherPower 10/100 PCI cards with Bay Networks BayStack 100Mbs
hubs. I have not have any problem with this combination, and with
ttcp I've pushed >8MB/sec between 2 P133s. I currently have 2
BayStack 100s plugged into a Bay 28115 10/100 switch, along with
various 10Mbs subnets and 100Mbs attached servers. (servers directly
into the switch) Works very well. The BayStack 100s should be
under $1800 depending on your vendor. DataComm warehouse has them
for $1749, and the SMC cards for $149. You can find them cheaper
though.
