Thanks to all who answered, I have liftoff.  Short answer was: BAD RAM - DAMN!!!

I will not bother this forum again with the Sun saga, and will be subscribing soon to the sun3 threads as soon 
as I really start to smack these babies around.  I will also be talking further privately with some of you. 
(Watch out Mouse, Jukka, Gordon, etc. :) )
