One user has a weird problem with PPP (it seems this problem appeared when
I upgraded to a 960210 kernel):

When the user sets his IP address in winsock before starting PPP, the
connection never comes up. /var/log/messages lists these two lines only:

Feb 29 20:14:39 muikku pppd[25368]: pppd 2.2.0 started by telemic, uid 400
Feb 29 20:14:39 muikku pppd[25368]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttym1

When the user sets any other IP address in winsock (like 0.0.0.0) and
then starts PPP, everything works just fine and these lines appear in the
log:

Feb 29 20:23:16 muikku pppd[25754]: pppd 2.2.0 started by telemic, uid 400
Feb 29 20:23:16 muikku pppd[25754]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttym1
Feb 29 20:23:30 muikku pppd[25754]: local  IP address 193.185.236.9
Feb 29 20:23:30 muikku pppd[25754]: remote IP address 193.185.236.51

The user says he hasn't changed anything in his system. I haven't
changed anything in NetBSD either - just replaced the 960118 kernel
with a 960210 one.

For 3-4 other users PPP has worked even with the new kernel - I don't know
if they have had problems, but not this bad, that's for sure.

Any ideas? Has the PPP code changed in late Jan or early Feb?

I'm just compiling the userland on an Amiga 3000, but it will take days
to complete the build.... :-/

Thanks in advance,

  -jm
