   I don't know why but those **censored** IRC servers don't accept operating
   system "OTHER" in an authentication reply which is IMHO a clear violation
   of RFC 1413.

ircd has abused the auth/ident protocol ever since it was first
added to the code.  this is totally unsurprising...  complain to
avalon@coombs.anu.edu.au if you want   :)
