I'm in favour of a sysctl option for the autonice parameter.  

But, what about a "kernel link-kit" for NetBSD binary distributions ?
Having user-configurable parts of the kernel as source and all the
basic modules as pre-built objects (as in SunOS for example or in the
XFree86 server linkkit).
