Hmmm, I'd hate to become dependant on procfs. Solaris' ps uses /proc, and
it'll hapily tell you there are no processes if you unmount /proc. Yikes.
And there's of course the kernel dump issue.

I think a ps which would use /proc if available, and fall back to nlist
otherwise would be very nice, but I don't volunteer to maintain it... "Bug
kern/32767: ps on i386 shows bogus info in WCHAN field without /proc
mounted"
