Tsk, tsk :-) I regularly add and remove swap files (4M chunks usually)
on linux systems with both 16M and 32M of RAM. There are *performance*
problems in some kernels with low physram situations, but the area has
gotten attention. (I'll grant that the difference between "falling
over" and "taking large amounts of time to complete operations" isn't
much...)
