I am trying to install NetBSD-current (July 27) on a Quantum XP34301 FAST
SCSI-2 drive attached to a ncr 53c810 PCI scsi host adaptor. During floppy
boot the ncr driver reports sensible thing about adaptor and drive:

ncr0 at pci0 bus 0 device 20
pci_map_mem: mapping memory at virtual f9929f00, physical ffbdff00
pci_map_init: pin A mapped to line 12
ncr0 reset (scsi reset)
ncr0 scanning for targets 0..6 ($Revision 1.15$)
scsibus0 at ncr0
ncr0 targ 0 lun 0 <QUANTUM, XP34301, 1051> SCSI2 0/direct fixed
sd0 at scsibus0sd0(ncr0:0:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10 Mb/sec) offest 8
:4106 Mb, 4076 cyl, 20 heads, 103 sec, 512 bytes/sec

When the first read/write access is made to the drive sd0 ncr.c reports
the following:

sd0(ncr0:0:0): COMMAND FAILED (4 a8) @f86bd200
[2 assert failures from lines 5172 and 5173 in sys/dev/pci/ncr.c]
ncr0 targ 0?: ERROR(80:100:29) (8/13) @3870cc:e0000000
ncr0: restart (fatal error)
sd0(ncr0:0:0): COMMAND FAILED (9 ff) @f86bd200

The pci/ncr combo had no problems accessing a SCSI1 <<MAXTOR, LXT-200S>
drive, and the Quantum XP34301 worked fine on anther NetBSD-current
system with Adaptec 1542 controller.

The problem appears to occur when a FAST SCSI-2 drive is attached to the
53c810 controller.

Has anyone seen something like this? Any workarounds?
