I'm getting these creations from sup.netbsd.org,
it happens every now and again that something goes
wrong on sup.netbsd.org and all these old directories
get created (last time it was creating 'gcc2 and gzip-1.0.7 ...')
Usually the problem disappears again a few days later
when someone on sup.netbsd.org gets round to fixing it.

It's happened more often lately, sup.netbsd.org has
also been unrealiable lately (or unreachable) also
the deletions haven't always come, the only way I
can get rid of these directories is to do a full
list of the correct files (sup -f) and compare but
it takes ages so I can't do it too often.

Cheerio
There is no automatic way of fixing it.
