No, I think the problems are caused by the failure of VJ compression
to address the TCP time stamps.  I think a reasonable interim solution
would be for PPP and SLIP implementations to remove time stamps from
packets that otherwise qualify for VJ compression, since they are
optional anyway.  This is easy to hack in netbsd, but not necessarily
easy to hack in your favorite terminal concentrator.
