Well, on my LJ 4MP I'm using the following printcap (printer is hooked to
amiga parallel port):

lp|ps|lj4|PostScript printer:\
        :mx#0:\
        :lp=/dev/par:\
        :sh:sf:\
        :of=/usr/libexec/lpf/lpf:\
        :if=/usr/libexec/lpf/lfcrlf:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:

This relies on only ascii-text being sent to the printer (postscript bitmaps
are ok), so you'd have to conditionalize the filter for real 8bit data in
PCL graphics mode. Don't need that though, so I don't care ;-)
