Subject: Non-terminfo version of ncurses -- still Evil?

Just noticed that the FreeBSD people have picked up (dunno when, maybe a long
time ago) a library called "mytinfo" which can read termcap files but contains
all the terminfo calls necessary to use ncurses.

As I recall, the general feeling was that ncurses was Evil because it required
a terminfo database. Does this change things such that ncurses might be
included with NetBSD? The mytinfo library seems reasonably cool in
any case -- though the FreeBSD kludge of including the traditional
libcurses, the traditional libtermcap, libncurses, and libmytinfo
seems pretty baroque, since in theory ncurses and libmytinfo (which
alleges to handle termcap requests as well) should suffice.
