Well, rather than doing that, why not just hack it in as an optional
behaviour in wd.c (the standard ATA hard disc device driver).  OK,
so the disklabel stuff will be all wrong, but hey, that way you get
away with having all the kernel interface stuff already there in place,
and you don't have to duplicate all the ATA stuff....
