It was brought to my attention (correctly) that I did not indicate that
I was speaking only for myself, and that I am not a member of -either-
the Net or FreeBSD core teams, so:

"I was speaking only for myself, and I am not a member of -either- the
Net or FreeBSD core teams, just a user who is distressed by seemingly
pointless inefficiency."

And for the record, I appreciate that these are volunteer efforts, and I
think both products are superb.  But honesty compels me to observe that
without the split, the combined product would certainly be better.
