I hope you have set your S registers so that the escape character is
ignored.  If not you could have other problems.  Do "ATS2=128" and
save to NVRAM to effect this change.

So how to drop the line?  Just set the baud rate of the port to 0.
A simple "stty 0 < /dev/tty01" or whatever will do it.
