I use them for keeping track of different partitioning schemes
and have found them to be invaluable repositories of canned setups that I
want to use again and again.  Autodetection of geometry and capacity is
ice, but  keeping track of meta partition information in a  file which is
easily copied, backed, up, and easily re-installable is a function I would
hate to lose.
