Yes, I'm running config.  I ran 'config.new' and it said 'don't forget to
make depend'.  I did.  (Does anyone else feel nervous about single-quoting
and inserting a line break?  I always feel like it's no longer an accurate
quote.)  Uhm.  The make depend run appeared to go fine, the build went
fine, and then the link failed.  Note also that I can't even compile with
KGDB on; one of the modules (oops, forgot which one now) got some strange
error.

This is amiga, by the way.
