Hi,
I am developing code that, amoung other things, makes RPCs to
nfsd. I recently noticed that the performance of NFS over
TCP is very poor compared to the performance of NFS over UDP.
How much poorer? Well there are noticeable delays when performing
simple actions such as creating a file or getting the status
of a file. Some of the RPC's even failed after the specified
timeout (30 seconds). Over UDP these actions appear to be instantaneous.
This was observed when using localhost. I didnt notice any
swap activity. Is NFS-TCP buggy? Has anyone else noticed this?
