Well, my system crashed again, in exactly the same way as before.
This time, I was compiling the C library instead of the kernel,
and running an Aug 14 kernel/userland, and my CONFIG was slightly
different.  A bug was almost definitely introduced somewhere,
probably between Aug 2 and Aug 9.
