current-users: crash dump on i386 wd0?

Does crash dumping work on the i386 current bits on an IDE disk?

I tried forcing a dump last night, and after it slooooowly wrote out the
image, savecore claimed the image was bogus (no matching magic number).

Has anybody gotten a good dump recently?
