1) Can't sup. Always says "invalid release XXX for collection YYY"

2)  Can't boot.  Got a kernel-aha from iastate's binaries directory, and
copied binaries from there, too.

Sorry if these are really stupid problems :(

Explanation/Examples:
1)
output:
SUP 8.26 (4.3 BSD) for file supfile.mine at Jul  9 02:45:36
SUP Upgrade of current at Sat Jul 9 02:45:38 1994
SUP Fileserver 7.13 (4.3 BSD) 27074 on sun-lamp.cs.berkeley.edu at 02:45:38
SUP: Invalid release 1.0 for collection current
SUP: Upgrade of current aborted at Jul 9 02:45:38 1994
SUP Upgrade of ksrc at Sat Jul 9 02:45:40 1994
SUP Fileserver 7.13 (4.3 BSD) 27075 on sun-lamp.cs.berkeley.edu at 02:45:40
SUP: Invalid release current for collection ksrc

supfile:
...stuff deleted...
current release=current host=sun-lamp.cs.berkeley.edu hostbase=/a/anon_ftp \
base=/u/vax/tmp/netbsd/suptest prefix=/u/vax/tmp/netbsd/suptest backup
current release=current host=sun-lamp.cs.berkeley.edu hostbase=/b/anon_ftp \
base=/u/vax/tmp/netbsd/suptest prefix=/u/vax/tmp/netbsd/suptest backup

I have tried many combinations of releases, collections, hostbases
(one doc mentions /a, the other, /b), etc.
2) gives this output when booting:
Changing root device /dev/fd0a
swfree errno 6
panic swinit:  swfree 0
