It does (or it did, or it should do ...), because i made the optimization
code actually work (and i KNOW it does optimization!).

Some neccessary fixes i made were lost or broken in 1.8x, and i became a
bit tired of fixing things i already had fixed that i had fixed :-(

If the optimization code is NOT available, mail in case you are interested,
although i still use (see above) the predecessor of 1.8x which was 0.73.

IMHO a (fixed) version of ncurses should go into the base release because
BSD curses is a real pain! (no religious flamwewars, please!)

btw: is there a PORTABLE way to handle F-keys in BSD curses ???
