Sun-lamp is an NFS server to all of my local machines; i regularly do
'make isntall's in /usr/src, with /usr/src and /usr/obj mounted from
lamp...

what kind of enet card is in your box?
i suggest that you have people mount you with rsize=2048,wsize=2048
if your ethernet board is in any way 'wimpy', and i know of *very* few
PC enet boards that i'd not describe as wimpy...  8-)
